A few words from CCi Artistic Director Jed Distler:
Normally we don't do solo piano events for Serial Underground, but since we're going to launch a piano series next season, I thought we could have a preview of things to come. And what better way then to invite a remarkable pianist whose work I've admired and respected for years: Massimo Giuseppe Bianchi.

Massimo has an eclectic yet intensely focused career in Europe. He champions important Italian masters such as Giorgio Federico Ghedini, and has recorded Ghedini's complete piano music for Naxos. Massimo gives cycles of the nine Beethoven Symphonies in Franz Liszt's daunting and brilliant piano transcriptions, and surveys the violin/piano repertoire with Emy Bernecoli. He and Emy also record for Naxos, and have just released the first in a series encompassing all of Respighi's violin and piano works. Massimo's newest opera, Il Rossini Perduto (The Lost Rossini) with libretto by Luigi Ballerini, premiered in November 2012 at the Palazzo Reale in Milan. On top of all this, Massimo plays in an improvising duo with legendary Italian jazz pianist Enrico Pieranunzi.

All the more reason why I'm especially looking forward to April 13th, which, incidentally, will be our second-to-last Serial Underground. Sunday June 8th marks the series' final show. We've had a great run since 2004, presenting all kinds of new music, launching collaborations, and keeping up a high standard of unpredictable program building. Now it's time to move on, and I will keep you posted. Thank you for all of your support, your encouragement, your feedback and your simply showing up.
